David Johnstone is a PhD graduate in Economics from the University of Sydney. His PhD was on the logic and philosophy of statistical methods in empirical research, particularly in significance tests. This work was published internationally in leading journals in several disciplines. David spent one year at Lancaster University and as a British Commonwealth Post-Doctoral Fellow. He then worked for two years in the School of Business at the University of California Berkeley, teaching managerial accounting, statistics and decision theory. In 1994 he joined the University of Wollongong as Professor of Finance. In 2004 I joined the University of Sydney as National Australia Bank Professor of Finance. David?s current research interests are primarily in the foundations of finance and financial decisions. He has published on topics concerning statistical inference and decision making in prestigious international journals in the philosophy of science, statistics, decision theory, accounting and finance.
